The first $120,000 of the true and full value of your homestead is exempt from property tax if you are a paraplegic veteran or the VA has awarded you specially adapted housing. An unremarried surviving spouse keeps the exemption if the veteran has died.

Apply through your local assessor or your county director of tax equalization, not the state, and show your VA documentation.

What you'll need

Your VA documentation of paraplegia or of the specially adapted housing award, proof that you own and live in the homestead, and a death certificate if you are claiming as a surviving spouse.
