North Dakota Public Employment Hiring Preference for Veterans

North Dakota state agencies and political subdivisions, under state law
5 or 10 points added in competitive hiring, or first preference in non-competitive hiring

You get a preference when you apply for North Dakota public employment. For a job not filled competitively, disabled veterans get first preference, then non-disabled veterans, then eligible spouses and unremarried surviving spouses. For a competitive hire, the hiring authority adds 5 points for a non-disabled veteran and 10 points for a disabled veteran, or 5 percent and 10 percent when the scale is not out of 100. An eligible spouse or unremarried surviving spouse gets the same preference the veteran would have received.
