Free or Reduced Cost North Dakota State Park Entrance Permit for Disabled Veterans and Former Prisoners of War

North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department
Free lifetime entrance permit, or a $28 annual permit if your rating is under 50 percent

A lifetime state park entrance permit is free if you have a service-connected disability rating of 50 percent or more or you are a former prisoner of war. Surviving spouses of veterans who had a rating of 50 percent or more are eligible too. If your rating is under 50 percent you can buy an annual entrance permit for $28.

Send the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department Disabled Veteran and POW Lifetime State Park Entrance Permit Application, your documentation and the fee if one applies to the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department, 604 E Boulevard Avenue Dept 750, Bismarck ND 58505. What you'll need

A current VA Summary of Benefits letter as proof of your disability rating, or a copy of a DD214 showing former prisoner of war status.

Eligibility

  • You are a North Dakota veteran with a service-connected disability rating from the VA, a former prisoner of war, or the surviving spouse of a veteran who had a rating of 50 percent or more
  • If your own rating is less than 50 percent, you buy the $28 annual permit rather than receiving the free lifetime permit
