North Dakota Veterans Aid Loan

North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs (NDDVA), through county veterans service officers
Up to $5,000 at 8 percent a year, with half the interest refunded on agreed repayment

You can borrow up to $5,000 from the permanent state Veterans Aid Fund. The interest rate is 8 percent a year and the term is 6 to 48 months. If you repay on the agreed terms, half the interest you paid is refunded to you.

Contact a North Dakota veterans service officer to apply.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or VA rating documentation, proof that you have lived in North Dakota for at least a year, and evidence of income or means to repay the loan.

Eligibility

  • You have been a North Dakota resident for at least one year before you apply
  • You have the financial means to pay the loan back
  • You are a veteran who served on federal active duty other than for training and was discharged under other than dishonorable conditions, a veteran who served on federal active duty and has a disability rating from the VA, a current or honorably discharged former National Guard or Reserve member, or the unremarried surviving spouse of an eligible veteran
