No-cost consumer, civil rights, identity theft and legal assistance services

You can get help from the state on consumer scams, charity scams and starting a charity, payment plans for state debts, discrimination based on military status in employment, housing and public accommodation, and identity theft, including placing an active duty alert on your credit report. Active duty and mobilized reserve component members and their families can also get free legal help with Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and USERRA violations and with wills and powers of attorney.

Documentation of the problem you need help with, and your military ID or orders if you are asking for the free legal services for active duty and mobilized members.

Eligibility

  • You are a veteran, a service member in an active or reserve component, or a family member of one
  • You have a consumer, debt, civil rights, identity theft or legal issue in Ohio
  • If you are seeking the free legal services, you are on active duty or are a mobilized reserve component service member, or a family member of one
