Ohio Military Injury Relief Fund

Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS)
$500 tax-exempt payment, in up to three fiscal years

You can receive a $500 tax-exempt payment if you were injured in combat, or diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of combat service, while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces after October 7, 2001. You can receive a grant in up to three fiscal years.

How to apply

Send the completed application and the documentation listed on it to the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, Attn: MIRF, P.O. Box 373, Sandusky, OH 44871. For help, call 877-644-6838 option 3 or 216-522-3696, or email MIRF@dvs.ohio.gov.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or current service documentation, medical records or VA documentation of the combat injury or PTSD diagnosis, and proof you are an Ohio resident.

Eligibility

  • You are an Ohio resident at the time you apply
  • You served in the U.S. Armed Forces after October 7, 2001
  • You were injured in combat, or diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of serving in combat
