Ohio One-Year Out-of-State Educator License for Military-Connected Teachers

One year of Ohio teaching authorisation while you complete full licensure

If you hold a teaching license from another state, you can get a one-year Ohio license soon after applying and teach in Ohio for a year while you finish anything else Ohio requires for full licensure.

Apply for the out-of-state educator license through the Ohio State Board of Education licensure system.

What you'll need

Your valid out-of-state teaching license, your transcripts, and your DD214, military ID or the service member’s orders if you are the spouse.

Eligibility

  • You hold a teaching license from another state
  • You are a service member, the spouse of a service member, or a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You meet the Ohio requirements for the out-of-state license
