Ohio runs veterans homes offering independent living, intermediate nursing care, skilled nursing care and memory care. The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown has 168 beds with intermediate, skilled and memory care; the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky has 427 beds with the same levels of care; and the Sandusky Domiciliary has 216 beds for veterans who need medical care but can live independently.

Complete the Ohio Veterans Homes admission application and submit it to the home you want. Phone Georgetown on 937-378-2900 or Sandusky on 419-625-2454.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing an honorable or general discharge under honorable conditions and qualifying wartime service or a qualifying medal, proof you have lived in Ohio for a year, and medical documentation of your disability.

Eligibility

  • You have been an Ohio resident for one year at the time you apply
  • Your most recent discharge was an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions
  • You served on active duty other than for training during a period of war or declared armed conflict, or you received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal or the Vietnam Service Medal
  • You have a disability from disease, wounds or other causes that leaves you unable to earn a living
