Oklahoma 100% Disabled Veteran Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Exemption

Service Oklahoma, with eligibility verified by Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA)
Motor vehicle excise tax waived on one vehicle every three years

You can claim an exemption from Oklahoma motor vehicle excise tax if you have a permanent service-connected disability and the VA pays you at the 100 percent rate. The exemption can be claimed on only one vehicle in a consecutive three-year period. Surviving spouses cannot claim it.

How to apply

Register first in the Oklahoma Veterans Registry to verify eligibility, then claim the exemption at a Service Oklahoma location when you title and register the vehicle. Request your VA award letter through the ODVA online state benefit request form if you do not already have proof of your rating.

What you'll need

Your Oklahoma Veterans Registry registration and VA documentation showing a permanent service-connected disability paid at the 100 percent rate.

Eligibility

  • You have a permanent service-connected disability and receive VA compensation at the 100 percent rate
  • You are registered in the Oklahoma Veterans Registry
  • You have not claimed this exemption on another vehicle in the last three years
