Oregon Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children

Oregon Department of Education, through the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission
Enrollment, placement, eligibility and graduation protections for military children

Oregon belongs to the interstate compact that smooths school transitions for military children. It speeds up enrollment when records have not caught up, stops differences between states in attendance rules, scheduling, course sequencing, grading, course content or assessment from holding your child back, protects eligibility for programs and for academic, athletic and social activities, and helps your child graduate on time.

Work with your school district first. If that does not resolve it, submit an MIC3 assistance request, or call the Oregon points of contact at 503-551-3288 or 503-947-5637.

What you'll need

Your military orders showing the move, and whatever school records you have from the previous district.

Eligibility

  • Your child is enrolled in an Oregon public school
  • You are an active duty service member, or a service member medically discharged, retired or deceased within the last year
