Oregon National Guard State Tuition Assistance

Oregon Office of Student Access and Completion, with the Oregon National Guard
In-state resident tuition for up to 90 community college credits or 180 quarter / 120 semester university credits

You can have your tuition paid at participating Oregon postsecondary institutions if you serve in the Oregon National Guard. The program funds in-state resident tuition rates for up to 90 credits at Oregon community colleges and up to 180 quarter credits or 120 semester credits at Oregon universities and colleges. Because of budget constraints, fee costs and book allowances are not covered during the 2025-26 academic year.

How to apply

Complete the application in the Oregon Student Aid Portal, creating an account if you are a new user, and file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Army Guard members can contact the Oregon Army National Guard Education Office at 971-355-4275, and Air Guard members their Wing Force Development Office at 503-335-4050 (142 FSS) or 541-885-6306 (173 FSF).

What you'll need

A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid, proof that you are in good standing in the Oregon National Guard and have finished basic training, and your school enrollment information.

Eligibility

  • You are an Oregon National Guard service member in good standing and not subject to adverse actions
  • You have completed military basic training
  • You are currently drilling and attending all scheduled unit training assemblies and annual training periods
  • You do not already have a bachelor’s degree or higher and are not in default on any federal loans
  • You maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress
