Oregon Reserve Component Active Duty Service Property Tax Exemption

Local Oregon county assessor, under Oregon Department of Revenue rules
Assessed value exemption starting at $60,000 in 2005 and increasing 3 percent a year

You can exempt part of the assessed value of the home you own and live in for each tax year in which you served at least one day of qualifying federal active duty as an Oregon National Guard or Reserve member. The exemption started at $60,000 of assessed value in 2005 and rises 3 percent each year.

How to apply

File a claim with the county assessor where the property is, not with the state, using the Oregon Active Duty Military Service Member’s Exemption Claim Form. For help, call 503-378-4988 or 800-356-4222, or email questions.dor@oregon.gov.

What you'll need

Your federal active duty orders showing 179 days or more, and proof you own and live at the property.

Eligibility

  • You are an Oregon resident National Guard or U.S. Armed Forces Reserve service member
  • You own and live at the Oregon property
  • You were ordered to federal active duty service for 179 days or more
  • You served at least one day of qualifying service during the tax year you are claiming
