Pennsylvania Educational Grant for Children of Service Members Declared a Prisoner of War or Missing in Action

A state education grant of up to $1,200 is available if you are the child of a service member who has been declared a prisoner of war or missing in action. The award amount depends on state funding.

What you'll need

Documentation of your parent's prisoner of war or missing in action status, their service and discharge paperwork, proof of their Pennsylvania residency before active duty, and proof of your relationship to them.

Eligibility

  • You are the child of a service member who has been declared a prisoner of war or missing in action
  • Your parent served on active duty after January 31, 1955
  • Your parent was a Pennsylvania resident for at least the 12 months before serving on active duty
  • Your parent did not desert or defect to the enemy
  • Your parent received an honorable discharge
