Pennsylvania Educational Gratuity

County Director of Veterans Affairs in your Pennsylvania county, with the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs
$500 per term or semester, for up to four scholastic years

You can get $500 per term or semester, for up to four scholastic years, paid directly to your school if you are the child of an honorably discharged veteran who has a total service-connected disability or who died during an established war service period.

How to apply

Contact the Pennsylvania County Director of Veterans Affairs in the county where you live to start the application, not the state. For more information email Ra-eg@pa.gov.

What you'll need

Your veteran parent's DD214 and VA rating documentation or death documentation, proof you have lived in Pennsylvania for the past five years, proof of your age, and your school enrollment information.

Eligibility

  • You are between 16 and 23 years old
  • You have lived in Pennsylvania for the five years before you apply
  • You attend a school within Pennsylvania
  • You are the child of a veteran who served during a wartime period and received an honorable or under honorable conditions discharge
  • Your veteran parent has a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability rating from the VA, or died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during a period of war or armed conflict
