Honorary high school diploma awarded

Pennsylvania school districts can award you an honorary high school diploma if you left high school before graduating to serve in World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War. Diplomas can also be awarded posthumously.

How to apply

Contact your local Pennsylvania school district and ask about an Operation Recognition diploma, then complete the state Operation Recognition application.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing an honorable discharge and service in one of the qualifying periods, and confirmation of the high school you attended.

Eligibility

  • You received an honorable discharge
  • You left high school before graduating to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You served between September 16, 1940 and December 31, 1946, between June 27, 1950 and January 31, 1955, or between February 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975
