In-state tuition rate at Pennsylvania public colleges and universities

You are treated as a Pennsylvania resident for tuition purposes at Pennsylvania public colleges and universities if you are a nonresident service member stationed and living in Pennsylvania, or a dependent of one. Veterans using VA education benefits, and students using transferred VA education benefits, who live in Pennsylvania also qualify.

How to apply

Ask the admissions or registrar office at the Pennsylvania public college or university you are attending to classify you as a resident for tuition purposes, and give them your orders or VA education benefit paperwork.

What you'll need

Your orders assigning you to Pennsylvania, or your VA Certificate of Eligibility for education benefits, plus proof you live in Pennsylvania.

Eligibility

  • You live in Pennsylvania
  • You are enrolling at a Pennsylvania public college or university
  • You are a nonresident service member stationed in Pennsylvania, the dependent of one, a veteran using VA education benefits, or a student using transferred VA education benefits
