Pennsylvania Tax Filing and Payment Extension for Combat Zone Service

Pennsylvania Department of Revenue
Filing and payment deadline extended by 180 days

Military pay earned in a combat zone or hazardous duty area gets the same extra time to file and pay from Pennsylvania that it gets for federal income tax. Your deadline moves automatically to 180 days after your last day of service in the area, or after your last day of continuous hospitalization for an injury you received there.

How to apply

There is nothing to apply for. File and pay within 180 days of your last day of qualifying service or hospitalization, and keep your orders with your tax records in case the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue asks.

What you'll need

Your orders and Leave and Earnings Statements showing the combat zone or hazardous duty service dates, or hospital records if you are relying on the hospitalization extension.

Eligibility

  • You are a Pennsylvania resident filing a Pennsylvania personal income tax return
  • You earned military pay in a combat zone or hazardous duty area, or you were continuously hospitalized for an injury you received there
