Kansas aims to award 3 percent of all state contracts to businesses owned by disabled veterans. Certifying your business makes it eligible for that preference when the state buys goods and services.

How to apply

Mail the completed Kansas Disabled Veteran Owned Business application to Kansas Procurement and Contracts, 900 SW Jackson, Room 451-S, Topeka, KS 66612-1216.

What you'll need

Your VA rating documentation showing a 30 percent or greater service-connected disability, your business ownership records or stock records, and documentation of who manages daily operations.

Eligibility

  • Your business operates in Kansas as a firm, a corporation or an individual
  • Your business is at least 51 percent owned by one or more veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 30 percent or more, or if it is publicly owned, 51 percent of the stock is owned by one or more disabled veterans
  • Your business's management and daily operations are controlled by one or more disabled veterans
