Extension of Rhode Island Hunting and Fishing Licenses for Service Members

License stays valid until six months after discharge

If you held a valid Rhode Island hunting or fishing license as a resident when you joined the U.S. Armed Forces, that license stays valid until six months after your discharge.

How to apply

There is nothing to apply for. Carry your license and your discharge paperwork while hunting or fishing. For questions call the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management at 401-222-6647.

What you'll need

Your existing Rhode Island hunting or fishing license and your DD214 showing your discharge date.

Eligibility

  • You were a Rhode Island resident with a valid Rhode Island hunting or fishing license when you joined the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You are within six months of your discharge date
