You can take unpaid leave from a Rhode Island job when a family member in a reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces is activated for state or federal service. Employers with 51 or more employees must allow up to 30 days of leave, and employers with 15 to 50 employees must allow up to 15 days.
Give your employer documentation of your family member’s activation and request military family leave.
Your family member’s activation orders and proof of your relationship, such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate.
