You can get a grant to help with financial difficulty if you serve in the Rhode Island National Guard or are a dependent of a member. Grants are authorized once a year.

What you'll need

Proof of your Rhode Island National Guard membership or DEERS enrollment, and documentation of your financial situation.

Eligibility

You are a Rhode Island National Guard service member, or a dependent of one enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System
You are experiencing financial difficulty
You have not received a SMAF grant in the past year
