Rhode Island Taxes on Military Pay

State agency

Military pay received by a resident service member follows federal tax rules and is subject to Rhode Island income tax. Rhode Island offers no exclusion for a resident service member’s military pay, so there is nothing to claim here. Separate rows cover the exclusions Rhode Island does give: retired pay, combat zone pay, disability retirement pay, survivor annuities, and nonresident pay.
