Complete the DMV Veteran Designation on a License or ID Card application, or the DMV Application for License, ID Card and Permit, and bring it to any Rhode Island DMV location with your proof of service.

What you'll need

A copy of your DD214 or other proof of an honorable discharge. For the Disabled Veteran designation you also need certification from the Providence VA Regional Office.

Eligibility

You are applying for a Rhode Island driver’s license or state ID card
You received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces
If you are claiming the Disabled Veteran designation, you have a 100 percent service-connected disability rating from the VA and certification from the Providence VA Regional Office
