Scott B. Lundell Military Survivors Tuition Waiver

Utah System of Higher Education institutions
Undergraduate tuition waived for degree-related courses

If you are the surviving spouse or dependent of a Utah resident service member who was killed or died while serving, Utah System of Higher Education institutions will waive your undergraduate tuition. The waiver covers only courses related to your degree, and it does not cover fees, books or housing.

Contact the admissions office at the Utah public college or university you plan to attend and ask about the Scott B. Lundell Military Survivors Tuition Waiver.

What you'll need

Documentation of the service member’s death and line-of-duty determination, proof of their Utah residency, and proof of your relationship to them.

Eligibility

  • You are the surviving spouse or dependent of the service member
  • The service member was a Utah resident who served in an active or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces
  • The service member died on or after September 11, 2001 while serving on state or federal active duty, their death was in the line of duty, and they were killed or died of wounds or injuries received during that service
  • You have been accepted as a student at a Utah public college or university
  • You have not already earned a bachelor’s degree
