South Carolina National Guard College Assistance Program

South Carolina Commission on Higher Education, with South Carolina Army National Guard Education Services
Up to $12,000 per year for tuition and fees, with a $25,000 lifetime cap

If you serve in the South Carolina National Guard, this program pays 100 percent of your tuition and fees at state supported institutions, up to $12,000 a year with a $25,000 lifetime cap. It covers a technical college certificate under one year, a registered apprenticeship course, a program leading to a certificate or credential, and a first bachelor’s degree or a two year degree that counts toward one.

Apply online through the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education College Assistance Program pages. For help email ng.sc.scarng.list.cap-application@mail.mil or call the South Carolina Army National Guard Education Services office at 803-299-2734.

What you'll need

Proof that you are in active drilling status with the South Carolina National Guard, your certificates for Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training if you are in the Army National Guard, and your enrollment information from a school headquartered in South Carolina.

Eligibility

  • You are serving in the South Carolina National Guard in an active drilling status
  • You are not flagged for any reason
  • If you are in the Army National Guard, you have completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training
  • You are enrolled at an educational institution headquartered in South Carolina
  • You are in good academic standing with your institution
