If you are a South Carolina National Guard member and you are injured, become ill, become disabled or die in the line of duty, you are covered by South Carolina’s workers’ compensation laws and can claim benefits and compensation under them.

How to apply

Report the injury or illness through your chain of command and file a workers’ compensation claim through the South Carolina National Guard. Survivors should contact the Guard for the death benefit claim.

What you'll need

Your duty orders, a line of duty determination, and your medical records for the injury or illness. Survivors also need the death certificate and proof of their relationship to the service member.

Eligibility

  • You are a South Carolina National Guard service member who was injured, became ill or became disabled in the line of duty, or you are the survivor of a service member who died in the line of duty
  • You have a line of duty determination for the injury, illness or death
