South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs (SCDVA)
Skilled and intermediate nursing care at six state homes

South Carolina runs six state veterans nursing homes for veterans who need skilled or intermediate nursing care: E. Roy Stone Veterans Pavilion in Columbia, Veterans’ Victory House in Walterboro, Richard Michael Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, Veteran Village in Florence, Palmetto Patriots Home in Gaffney, and Patriot’s Village in Sumter. They provide medical and nursing care, rehabilitative therapies, pharmacy service, recreational and therapeutic activities, social services, beauty and barber services, transportation and laundry.

How to apply

Complete the SCDVA state home admission packet and submit it to the home you want, or contact a South Carolina county veterans’ affairs office for help with the application.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing active duty service and an honorable discharge, proof that you have lived in South Carolina for at least a year, and a VA determination that you need skilled or intermediate nursing home care.

Eligibility

  • You served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and received an honorable discharge
  • You have been a South Carolina resident for at least one year
  • You require skilled or intermediate nursing home care as determined by the VA
