You can claim temporary income if you lose your job through no fault of your own. It replaces part of your lost wages while you look for other work, is not based on financial need, and is paid for entirely by employers.

File your initial claim online through the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce MyBenefits portal. For help call customer service at 866-831-1724.

What you'll need

Your Social Security number, your work history for the past 18 months including each employer’s business name, address, phone number and what they paid you, your alien registration number and documentation if you are not a U.S. citizen, your DD214 Member 4 copy if you left the U.S. Armed Forces in the past 18 months, and an SF-50 or SF-8 if you left federal civilian service in the past 18 months.

Eligibility

  • You are unemployed through no fault of your own
  • You are able to work, available for work and actively looking for work
  • You meet South Carolina’s wage and work history requirements
