Military Training Leave for South Dakota State Employees

South Dakota Bureau of Human Resources and Administration, through your state agency
15 days of military leave per calendar year, plus up to 40 hours of accumulated sick leave for state active duty

You get 15 days of military leave each calendar year for training if you are a permanent South Dakota state employee serving in the National Guard or the Reserves. When you are called to state active duty you can also use up to 40 additional hours of your accumulated sick leave.

  • You are a permanent South Dakota state employee
  • You are serving in the National Guard or a U.S. Armed Forces Reserve component
