South Dakota Reemployment Assistance

South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation, Reemployment Assistance Division
Partial, short-term wage replacement based on your previous wages

You can claim temporary financial help if you lose your job through no fault of your own. Payments are based on the wages you earned before, are funded by employer taxes, and are not based on financial need.

How to apply

File a claim online through the South Dakota reemployment assistance portal, or call the Claims Call Center at 605-626-3179, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. Central. For TTY dial 711 or 800-877-1113. For help, call the Customer Service Center at 605-626-2452.

What you'll need

Your Social Security number, your driver’s license or other state ID number, your employment history for the last 18 months with each employer’s name, address, phone number, dates of employment, pay rate and reason you left, the name and number of your local union hall if you have one, your alien registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen, SF-8 and SF-50 forms if you were a federal employee, and your DD214 if you are a former service member.

Eligibility

  • You are unemployed through no fault of your own
  • You are able and available to accept work
  • You are actively seeking work, unless the department has told you otherwise
  • You are registered on the South Dakota Works portal
  • You take part in all the reemployment activities you are directed to
