South Dakota State Employment Veterans’ Hiring Preference

South Dakota Bureau of Human Resources and Administration, and county and city hiring authorities
Preference for appointment, employment and promotion, with automatic placement on the state interview list

You get preference for appointment, employment and promotion in South Dakota government jobs at state, county and city level. At state level, if you are eligible you are automatically added to the interview list once the top qualified applicants have been identified. Preference runs in this order: disabled veteran, spouse of a disabled veteran, veteran, then unremarried surviving spouse. You still need the skills and qualifications the job requires.
