South Dakota State Employment Wage Compensation Adjustment during Active Duty Service

The difference between your state salary and your military salary, paid quarterly

If you are a South Dakota state employee ordered to state or federal active duty, the state pays you the difference between your state salary and your military salary for as long as that active duty lasts. The difference is paid quarterly. Active duty for training does not count.

Give your agency’s human resources office a copy of your orders and your military pay records so the difference can be calculated.

What you'll need

Your state or federal active duty orders and your military Leave and Earnings Statements showing your military pay.

Eligibility

  • You are a South Dakota state employee
  • You are serving in a reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You have been ordered to state or federal active duty other than active duty for training
