You can get a free freshwater fishing and trout licence while you are being treated for a disability as an active duty service member. It is valid for one year and cannot be reissued. It is available whether or not you are a Virginia resident, as long as your treatment is at a hospital in Virginia, a neighbouring state or the District of Columbia.
Contact the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources and ask for the special fishing licence for disabled active duty service members, with documentation of your treatment.
Documentation that you are on active duty and are receiving inpatient or outpatient medical treatment for a disability at a qualifying hospital.
