You get an excused absence of up to four hours a day to take part in a military funeral service as a pallbearer or as a member of a firing squad or honor guard, if you are a Tennessee state employee and a veteran. The rules are in section 11.05 of the state attendance and leave manual.
Ask your agency’s human resources office for an excused absence and tell them the date and your role in the funeral service.
Proof of your veteran status and the details of the military funeral service you are taking part in.
