Tennessee STRONG Act Tuition Reimbursement for National Guard Service Members

100 percent of the maximum in-state tuition rate (University of Tennessee Knoxville rate), up to 130 undergraduate or 40 graduate semester hours

You can be reimbursed for tuition at 100 percent of the maximum in-state resident undergraduate or graduate rate, using the University of Tennessee Knoxville rate, after Federal Tuition Assistance, scholarships, grants and other financial aid are counted. It covers a first bachelor’s degree, a first master’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma from a vocational or technical school, and funds no more than 130 undergraduate semester hours or 40 graduate semester hours.

How to apply

Submit a completed application packet — a reimbursement request, your billing statement and your grade report — within 45 days of the last day of class. Army National Guard packets can be emailed to ng.tn.tnarng.mbx.ngtn-state-tuition-assistance-army@mail.mil. For questions call 615-313-0849.

What you'll need

A completed tuition reimbursement request, your billing statement, your grade report, and proof that you are in good standing in the Tennessee National Guard.

Eligibility

  • You are currently serving in the Tennessee National Guard in good standing and not flagged through the end of the academic term
  • You do not already have a degree at the level you are studying for
  • You attend a Tennessee College of Applied Technology, a regionally accredited community college, a four-year public university, or a private school whose primary campus is in Tennessee
  • You use Federal Tuition Assistance first if you are eligible for it
  • You meet the grade point average or satisfactory academic progress standard your program requires for the academic term
