You can get one-on-one help finding work at a Tennessee American Job Center, including job search help, job training, workshops, resume help, internet and telephone access, job referrals and follow up, assessments, career counseling, an individual employment plan and on-the-job training. Veterans get priority of service for every program funded in whole or in part by the U.S. Department of Labor, which means you are served ahead of others or get access first when a resource is limited. Extra services are available if you are disabled, homeless, low income, aged 18 to 24, without a high school diploma or equivalent, were released from incarceration in the last 12 months, or separated within the last three years and were unemployed for 27 or more consecutive weeks in the previous 12 months.
Contact your nearest Tennessee American Job Center and tell them you are a veteran so you get priority of service.
Proof of your military service, such as your DD214 or other discharge papers.
