Texas Driver License and ID Card Expiration Extension for Service Members and their Families

Expiry extended until 90 days after discharge

Your Texas driver license or ID card expiry date is extended automatically until 90 days after discharge if you are a resident on active duty stationed outside Texas, and the same goes for your spouse and dependents. Carry your military ID card along with your Texas driver license whenever you drive.

  • You are a Texas resident on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces stationed outside Texas, or the spouse or dependent of one
  • You hold a Texas driver license or ID card
