Texas offers 314 distinctive license plate designs honoring service members, veterans, retired service members and eligible family members. Each design has its own eligibility rules, and several are issued free of charge.

How to apply

Take the completed application for the plate you want, proof of eligibility and payment if any is due to your local county tax assessor-collector office. Personal checks, money orders and cashier’s checks are accepted.

What you'll need

The application form for the plate you want, and proof you are eligible for that specific design, which is usually your DD214, award documentation or VA rating letter.

  • You qualify for one of the military or veteran specialty plate designs
