Partial, short-term replacement of lost wages

You can claim temporary income if you lose your job through no fault of your own. It replaces part of your lost wages while you look for other work, is short term, and is not based on financial need. Your claim takes effect on the Sunday of the week you apply, so apply as soon as you are out of work.

How to apply

Apply through the Texas Unemployment Benefit Services claim webpage or call the Texas Workforce Commission Tele-Center at 800-939-6631, and register for work search at WorkInTexas.com.

What you'll need

Your Social Security number, an unexpired Texas driver license or ID card number, your last employer’s name, address and phone number, your first and last dates worked there, your most recent hours and pay rate, your Alien Registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen, and your service dates and DD214 if you left the U.S. Armed Forces in the last 18 months.

Eligibility

  • You are unemployed or working reduced hours through no fault of your own
  • You meet the Texas requirements about your past earnings and your job separation
  • You are registered for work search at WorkInTexas.com
  • You are able to work, available for work and actively searching for work
