Commercial driver licence knowledge and skills testing waived

If you held one of a set of qualifying military driving specialties in the past year, Utah will waive both the knowledge and the skills testing for your commercial driver licence. The qualifying specialties are Army 88M, 92F and 14T, Air Force 2T1, 2F0 and 3E2, Marine Corps 3531, and Navy EO.

Apply through the Utah Driver License Division commercial driver licence application page and submit the Application for Conversion of Military Experience to Civilian CDL.

What you'll need

The conversion application, documentation of your qualifying Military Occupational Specialty or rating within the past year, and your discharge paperwork if you have separated.

Eligibility

You meet Utah’s licensing qualifications for the commercial driver licence you want
You worked in one of the qualifying Military Occupational Specialties or ratings in the past year: Army 88M, 92F or 14T, Air Force 2T1, 2F0 or 3E2, Marine Corps 3531, or Navy EO
If you have been discharged, you received an honorable discharge in the previous 90 days, or you are still serving in a reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces
