The Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park in Bluffdale offers burial for veterans, their spouse and dependent children, with in-ground casket and urn burials, columbarium niches for cremated remains, and a memorial garden for scattering ashes. Burial of a veteran is free and includes the plot, opening and closing the grave, a government-issued marker and perpetual care. Burial of a surviving spouse or dependent child requires a fee.

What you'll need

A copy of the official military discharge document bearing an official seal, or a DD214, plus a marriage certificate or dependent documentation for family members.

Eligibility

  • You were discharged from active duty service in the U.S. Armed Forces under conditions other than dishonorable, or died while serving on active duty, or served at least 20 years in the National Guard or U.S. Armed Forces Reserves and are eligible for military retired pay, or would have been eligible except that death occurred before age 60, or served as a reserve component member activated for federal service
  • Your spouse and children qualify through you, with dependent children limited to unmarried children under 21, under 23 if they are full-time students at an approved institution, or a child who developed a lifelong disability before age 21
