Vermont Driver’s License Extension for Service Members on Active Duty and their Family Members

Driver’s license expiration extended up to four years

Your Vermont driver’s license expiration date can be extended for up to four years past its normal expiry if you are a Vermont resident on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, and the same applies to your immediate family members. You have to carry your expired Vermont license, your military ID card and the Vermont Armed Forces Extension Letter or Card while driving.

Eligibility

  • You are a Vermont resident serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, or the immediate family member of one
  • You hold a Vermont driver’s license
  • You carry your expired license, your military ID card and the Vermont Armed Forces Extension Letter or Card
