Free one-year hunting, fishing or combination license

You can get a free one-year Vermont hunting, fishing or combination license if you are a Vermont resident serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, or a reserve component service member activated for homeland defense or a stateside contingency operation for 120 or more consecutive days.

How to apply

Get the licence from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department main office in Montpelier, online through the department’s licence webpage, or from a department licence agent. For help call 802-828-1190 or email fwinformation@vermont.gov.

What you'll need

Proof of Vermont residency, your military ID and your active duty or activation orders, and your hunter education certificate if you are applying for a hunting or combination license.

Eligibility

  • You are a Vermont resident
  • You are serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, or you are a reserve component service member activated for homeland defense or a stateside contingency operation for 120 or more consecutive days
  • If you are applying for a hunting or combination license, you meet the Vermont hunting license requirements
