You can get a free permanent Vermont hunting, fishing or combination license if you are a Vermont resident veteran with a service-connected disability rating of 60 percent or greater from the VA.

How to apply

Send the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department Veteran Free License Privilege Letter and Application, with the documentation listed on it, to the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, 1 National Life Drive, Dewey Building, Montpelier VT 05620-3208. For help call the Licensing Unit at 802-828-1190.

What you'll need

The completed application, your VA disability rating letter showing 60 percent or greater, proof of Vermont residency, and your hunter education certificate if you are applying for a hunting or combination license.

  • You have a service-connected disability rating of 60 percent or greater from the VA
  • If you are applying for a hunting or combination license, you meet the Vermont hunting license requirements
