Vermont National Guard Tuition Benefit Program

Vermont National Guard Education Office, with the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation
Interest-free forgivable loans covering remaining eligible tuition

You can borrow interest-free, forgivable loans for tuition if you serve in the Vermont National Guard. The loans cover a first or second bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, or up to two certificates per term and four per year, at Vermont State Colleges, the University of Vermont, the Community College of Vermont, Vermont private colleges up to the in-state tuition rate charged by the University of Vermont, and certificate programs. You have to use all available federal tuition benefits first, and the loan then covers the remaining eligible tuition. The loan is forgiven based on your time in service: two years in the Vermont National Guard for each full-time academic year of 12 credits or more, pro-rated below 12 credits, and six months for each certificate.
