You can get a free one-year reciprocal Vermont hunting, fishing or combination license if you live in Maine or New Hampshire and have a service-connected disability rating of 60 percent or greater from the VA.

How to apply

Send the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department Veteran Free License Privilege Letter and Application, with the documentation listed on it, to the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, 1 National Life Drive, Dewey Building, Montpelier VT 05620-3208. For help call the Licensing Unit at 802-828-1190.

What you'll need

The completed application, your VA disability rating letter showing 60 percent or greater, proof that you live in Maine or New Hampshire, and your hunter education certificate if you are applying for a hunting or combination license.

Eligibility

  • You are a resident of Maine or New Hampshire
  • You are a veteran with a service-connected disability rating of 60 percent or greater from the VA
  • If you are applying for a hunting or combination license, you meet the Vermont hunting license requirements
