You can claim temporary income if you lose your job through no fault of your own. It replaces part of your lost wages while you look for other work, is not based on financial need, and is paid for entirely by employers.

File an initial claim by calling 877-214-3330. For help with an existing claim call Claimant Assistance at 877-214-3332.

What you'll need

Your Social Security number, mailing and home addresses, email address and phone number, your alien registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen, the amount and duration of any separation pay, your return to work date if you expect to be recalled, your driver license or state ID number, your banking information for direct deposit, your DD214 Member 4 copy if you served in the last 18 months, Form SF8 if you were a federal employee in the last 18 months, and the name, address, payroll address, phone number, employment dates and reason for separation for every employer in the last 18 months.

Eligibility

  • You are unemployed through no fault of your own
  • You are able and available to work and actively seeking work
  • You meet Vermont’s wage and work history requirements
