Vermont VETERAN Designation on Driver’s Licenses and ID Cards

You can have a VETERAN designation printed on your Vermont driver’s license or state ID card as proof of your military service.

How to apply

First submit a Vermont Certificate of Veteran Status to the Vermont Office of Veterans Affairs for certification, following the instructions on the form. Once you have that certification, apply at a Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles office.

What you'll need

A completed Vermont Certificate of Veteran Status with the documentation listed on it, and your license or non-driver ID application.

Eligibility

  • You served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You received a discharge other than dishonorable
  • You have your veteran status certified by the Vermont Office of Veterans Affairs
