You can have a veteran designation printed on your Hawaii driver’s license, state ID card or instruction permit as proof of your service.

How to apply

Take a completed Hawaii driver’s license or state ID card application and your proof of service to your county driver’s license office. What you'll need

An original or certified copy of one of these: your DD214, an NGB 22, a pre-1950 discharge document (WD AGO 53, WD AGO 55, WD AGO 53-55, NAVPERS 553, NAVMC 78PD, NAVCG 553 or DD Form 217), a discharge certificate showing the character of your discharge, a VA verification letter, or a verification letter from the Hawaii Office of Veterans’ Services.

Eligibility

  • You served in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable
  • You provide an original or certified copy of an accepted proof of service document
