You can have a veteran designation printed on your Louisiana driver’s license or ID card to show you served on active duty. There is no fee to request the designation, but the normal fees apply if you add it during your renewal period or ask for a duplicate card.

How to apply

Apply at your local Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles with proof of your honorable discharge. Office of Motor Vehicles Policy 2.02 lists the documents they accept.

What you'll need

A copy of official documentation showing you received an honorable discharge, such as your DD214, and your current license or ID card.

Eligibility

You hold or are applying for a Louisiana driver’s license or ID card
You received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces
You can provide official documentation of that discharge
